Wetherill Park RES arrest two, seize heroin and stolen property - Strike Force McDonnell

Police have arrested two men, and seized a firearm, heroin with an estimated potential street value of $100,000, cannabis, and property believed to be stolen after an investigation into drug supply in Sydney’s south-west.

In December 2016, investigators attached to Wetherill Park Region Enforcement Squad established Strike Force McDonnell targeting the supply of heroin in the Liverpool and West Hoxton areas.

About 12pm yesterday (Wednesday 19 April 2017), police stopped a vehicle in a shopping complex on Hoxton Park Road, West Hoxton, and arrested a 58-year-old man.

Strike Force detectives, with assistance from the Public Order Riot Squad (PORS) and officers from South West Metropolitan Region, executed a search warrant at a home in West Hoxton.

During the search, police located a replica firearm, as well as an amount of ammunition, more than 350g heroin with a street value over $100,000, 355 grams of cannabis, and also $8,880 in cash.

In the garage of the home, police found more than $100,000 worth of tools and other items suspected of being stolen, including fishing equipment, jewellery, high end linen and mobile phone and computer equipment.

A 34-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Fairfield Police Station.

The 58-year-old man was taken to Green Valley Police Station.

The 58-year-old man was charged with supply prohibited drug (commercial quantity) (x2); supply prohibited drug on an ongoing basis; organises/conducts/assists drug premises – first offence; knowingly direct activities of criminal group; deal with proceeds of crime (x2); possess ammunition without holding licence; and receive property - theft.

The 34-year-old man was charged with supply prohibited drug (commercial quantity) (x2); supply prohibited drug on an ongoing basis; organises/conducts/assists drug premises – first offence; and participate in criminal group.

Both men were refused bail with the older man to appear at Liverpool Local Court and the younger man to appear at Fairfield Local Court today (Thursday 20 April 2017).
