Police appeal following home invasion - Broken Hill

Police are appealing for information following an alleged home invasion in Broken Hill on Saturday night.

About 8.45pm on Saturday (15 April 2017), a 26-year-old woman was at her home on Iodide Street, when a male person entered the home through a window.

The woman confronted him, before he allegedly indecently assaulted her, exposed himself and committed an act of indecency.

While in the home, he allegedly stole a tablet device and a purse before fleeing over the back fence into properties on Chappel Street.

The woman contacted police who arrived a short time later and established a crime scene. The area was searched, however, the male was not located.

Officers from Barrier Local Area Command have established Strike Force Heliodor to investigate the incident.

Investigators are hoping to speak with a male who may be able to assist with inquiries. He is described as being of Aboriginal / Torres Strait Islander appearance, and in his late teens. He was last seen wearing a black hooded jumper, and dark shorts.

Yesterday (Sunday 16April 2017), the woman’s purse was returned to her mailbox by an unknown person. Officers are urging anyone with information about the incident, or whoever returned the property to come forward.
