Man charged after alleged assault - Wollongong

Police have charged a man in relation to the alleged assault of a man in Wollongong yesterday.

About 10pm (Sunday 16 April 2017), a 27-year-old man had left a licensed premises and was standing on Cliff Road, North Wollongong, when he was allegedly hit to the head from behind.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Wollongong Hospital in a stable condition.

A short time later, police arrested a 23-year-old man.

He was taken to Wollongong Police Station and charged with affray and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The 23-year-old was granted conditional bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday 9 May 2017.
