Firearms charges follow alleged target practice - Albury

A man will face court next month after allegedly using an unregistered firearm to shoot apples in an Albury reserve.

About 2.30pm today (Sunday 16 April 2017), police responded to calls from the public about a man with a firearm in Mungabarrena Reserve, on Doctors Point Road East Albury.

After speaking with a man, police found he was in possession of an air rifle.

Inquiries revealed that while the man is the holder of a current firearms licence, the air rifle was unregistered.

The 31-year-old man was charged with firing a firearm in or near a public place, possessing an unregistered firearm in a public place, possessing an unauthorised firearm, possessing an unregistered firearm, acquiring an unregistered firearm, acquiring a firearm without a licence and not keeping a firearm safely.

He was granted conditional bail to appear in Albury Local Court on 16 May 2017.
