A man has been charged following a brawl in Sydney’s CBD this morning.

Police from Sydney City Local Area Command were called to Pitt Street about 4am (Sunday 16 April 2017), responding to two separate assaults.

Police arrived to find a brawl had also broken out outside a convenience store with more than 20 men and woman fighting.

Police used OC spray to disperse the crowd, which had spilled onto the roadway.

Three people were arrested at the scene while the remainder of the crowd was issued with a move-on direction.

A 29-year-old man, from South Hurstville, was taken to Day Street Police Station where he was charged with affray, and resist arrest.

He’s been granted strict conditional bail to appear in the Downing Centre Local Court on Friday 5 May 2017. He has also been issued with a long-term banning order from licensed premises in Sydney’s CBD.

A 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman – who were also arrested – have been released pending further inquiries.

These inquiries will include the examination of CCTV, with investigators keen to source any smart phone vision of the incident.

A 19-year-old woman was treated at the scene for the effects of OC spray before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for assessment.
