Investigators are seeking witnesses after the death of a woman in the Royal National Park at Bundeena.

Just before 5pm yesterday (Wednesday 12 April 2017), officers from Sutherland Local Area Command were called to the Royal National Park, following reports a bushwalker was missing.

Initial inquiries have led police to believe the 19-year-old woman became separated from her partner during a bushwalk and failed to return at a nominated meeting point.

Police resumed the search this morning and about 10am located a body at the bottom of some cliffs at Wedding Cake Rock near Bundeena.

Officers from Sutherland Local Area Command have commenced inquiries into the incident, and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

They are particularly appealing for anyone who may have been walking on the Coast Trail, Bundeena, from Beachcomber Avenue, to Wedding Cake Rock between 12pm and 4.45pm on Wednesday, and may have seen the 19-year-old woman.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au/ Information you provide will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
