Police have located the body of a woman following a search in the Royal National Park near Bundeena.

Just before 5pm (Wednesday 12 April 2017), officers from Sutherland Local Area Command were called to the Royal National Park, following reports a bushwalker was missing.

Initial inquiries have led police to believe the 19-year-old woman became separated from her partner during a bushwalk and failed to return at a nominated meeting point.

Police resumed the search this morning and located a body at the bottom of some cliffs.

A police operation is currently underway to retrieve the body.

The body has not been formally identified.

Investigations are continuing and a report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
