Service Station robbery - Central Hunter

Police are appealing for public assistance following a robbery on the Central Hunter this morning.
About 12.10am (Monday 10 April 2017) a man forced his way into a Service Station on Anderson Drive, Tarro, north of Newcastle, and jumped the counter. The service station attendant retreated into a nearby room and the man stole cash and cigarettes.
The man was last seen entering a red hatchback before leaving the scene.
Officers from Central Hunter Local Area Command attended and commenced an investigation.
As part of their inquiries, police would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist them.
The man is described as 183cm and of medium build, wearing a black hooded jacket, grey tracksuit pants, black shoes and had his face disguised.
About 2.40am (Monday 10 April 2017) Nelson Bay Police located a burnt out vehicle at a Sports Centre in Malabulla, which they believe is related to the robbery.
About 4.40am (Monday 10 April 2017) Police spoke with a Tanilba Bay resident who stated a man of similar description had attempted to break into his home.
About one hour later a second Tanilba Bay resident contacted police to report her house had been broken into, and her red Suzuki Swift had been stolen.
Anyone with information about the man or the red vehicles is asked to come forward.
