Scooter assault charge - Albion Park

A teenage boy has been charged after another teen was allegedly assaulted with a metal scooter in the Lake Illawarra region.
About 1.45pm (Saturday 8 April 2017), a 16-year-old boy was walking in a laneway between Beveridge Street and Tongarra Road, Albion Park, when he was approached by two youths.
One of the youths allegedly hit the 16-year-old boy in the head with a metal scooter, before they fled the scene.
Emergency services were notified and the injured boy was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to Wollongong Hospital in a critical condition.
Later that day, police arrested a 14-year-old boy. He was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station and will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
About 9.15pm yesterday (Sunday 9 April 2017), police arrested a 16-year-old boy at a home in Warilla.
He was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he has been charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The teen was refused bail to appear at a children's court today (Monday 10 April 2017).
Police have been advised the injured teen’s condition remains critical.
