Man charged after child approach - Redhead Beach

A man has been charged after a child approach in the Lake Macquarie region.
About 2pm (Sunday 9 April 2017), a seven-year-old boy was standing outside a toilet block at Redhead Beach, when he was approached by a 56-year-old man.
The man engaged the boy in conversation, allegedly asking the boy to go into the toilets with him.
A short time later the boy’s mother confronted the man and he fled the scene.
Police were contacted and attended a short time later.
Officers located the man at the northern end of Redhead Beach. As they approached him, it is alleged they observed him committing an indecent act.
The man was placed under arrest and taken to Belmont Police Station where he was charged with intimidate intend fear physical harm, behave in offensive manner in public place, and wilful and obscene exposure in public place.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Belmont Local Court on Wednesday 3 May 2017.
