Man faces court after assault police and break-in offences - Hurstville

Police have arrested and charged a man with breaking offences after responding to reports of a man trying to gain access to a residential unit complex in Hurstville overnight.

Officers were called to MacMahon Street, Hurstville, about 8.45pm (Saturday 8 April 2017) following reports of a man, using a shopping trolley to smash through the glass front door of a residential unit complex.

Upon arrival, police located a 29-year-old man hiding behind a fence with cuts to his hands and legs.

The man was arrested a short time later, allegedly assaulting police.

During a search, officers allegedly located breaking implements.

The man was taken to Kogarah Police Station where he was charged with break and enter with intent to commit serious indictable offence, assault officer in execution of duty x 2, possess housebreaking implements, commit Section 114 offence having previous conviction and armed with intent to commit indictable offence.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow, Sunday 9 April, 2017.
