Investigations continue into pub robbery - SCC Robbery & Serious Crime Squad

Detectives are appealing for assistance as investigations continue into armed robberies in the Hunter region.

Strike Force Shirley was established by detectives from the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad, and Port Stephens and Central Hunter Local Area Commands, to investigate a series of armed robberies in the area.

As part of their inquiries, strike force detectives are appealing for information into an armed robbery at a licensed premises at East Maitland last year.

About 10pm on Monday 5 December 2016, three men, armed with a baseball bat, a knife and a shotgun, entered the Melbourne Street hotel via the backdoor.

The trio threatened staff and three patrons, and demanded cash. One of the patrons was hit with the baseball bat as he was pushed to the floor. He was not injured.

The men stole cash, purses, and a red tool box before escaping via the back door, and drove away in a white late-model sedan.

Detectives have released CCTV images of two masked men, who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The first man is depicted as being of Caucasian appearance, with a thin build, 160-170cm tall, and wearing a blue hooded jumper, and a white cotton face covering.

The second man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, with a thin build, 160-170cm tall, and wearing a dark-coloured jumper with a grey hood, and a white cotton face covering.

Anyone who may know those depicted in the images, or who has information relevant to the investigation, is urged to come forward.
