Police charge man following crash - Belfield

A man has been charged with drink-driving following a crash at Belfield early this morning.

Shortly after 2am (Tuesday 4 April 2017), a Ford Focus was travelling east on Punchbowl Road when it appears to have lost control and crashed into a wooden power pole and a bus shelter.

Due to the heavy impact with the power pole, parts of the vehicle have impacted with a second vehicle travelling on Punchbowl Road which sustained minor damage.

Police from Campsie Local Area Command attended and breath tested the 22-year-old driver who allegedly provided a positive result.

He was arrested and taken to Campsie Police Station where he provided a breath analysis reading 0.142.

He was issued a summons for mid-range drink-driving.

He is due to appear in Burwood Local Court on Tuesday 2 May 2017.

His licence has been suspended.
