Appeal for information after multi-vehicle crash - Newtown

Police are appealing for public assistance after a four vehicle crash in Newtown yesterday.

About 9.50pm (Monday 27 February 2017), emergency services were called to King Street, following reports four vehicles were involved in a crash.

Police have been told that the driver of a Ford Focus, a 21-year-old man, was travelling south on King Street and collided with three other vehicles.

One of the vehicles involved then struck a pedestrian walking along King Street.

The male driver of the Ford Focus appeared uninjured, and fled the scene on foot.

The male driver of a van, aged 53, and his male passenger were taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital with minor injuries.

The pedestrian, a 24-year-old man, was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital with a suspected fractured wrist.

The male driver of the Toyota Yaris, aged 25, and the 20-year-old female driver of the Nissan Qashqai were uninjured.

Officers from Newtown Local Area Command attended and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
