Teen arrested after pursuit - Broken Hill

A teenager has been arrested after a pursuit in Broken Hill overnight.
Police have been told about 11.30pm (Sunday 26 February 2017), an 87-year-old woman was at her home in Bromide Street, Broken Hill, when an unknown person entered the house and stole a set of car keys and the woman’s Holden Barina.
Police from Broken Hill Local Area Command were alerted to the incident.
A short time later, officers sighted the Barina at the intersection of Beryl Lane and Bromide Street and attempted to pull the car over. The driver failed to stop and a pursuit ensued.
Officers terminated the pursuit at the intersection of Williams and Kaolin Streets due to the vehicle being driven dangerously.
Police then received a call from a member of the public advising that the vehicle had been dumped at the intersection of Pell Lane and Creedon Street and a driver and two passengers had run off.
Following inquiries, officers have arrested a 14-year-old boy over the incident.
He was taken to Broken Hill Police Station and has been charged with breach bail, aggravated break and enter, steal motor vehicle and police pursuit (Skye’s Law).
He is due to appear at a Children’s Court tomorrow (Tuesday 28February 2017).
Police are still looking for two outstanding passengers from the vehicle and are urging anyone with information on the incident to come forward.
