Man charged after police pursuit - Earlwood

Police have charged a man after a police pursuit in Sydney’s south.
Just before 11pm yesterday (Friday 24 February 2017), officers stopped a black Jeep Wrangler on Permanent Avenue, Earlwood and attempted to speak to the driver.
As the officer approached the vehicle, the 26-year old man drove away from police and a short pursuit was initiated.
A short time later, the jeep struck a gutter causing the vehicle to roll, hitting a parked VW Amrok and a light pole.
The driver, who was ejected from the vehicle, was taken to Royal Prince Alfred hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Officers attached to Ashfield Local Area Command established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation.
The man was charged with:
- not give way to vehicle when entering roundabout
- police pursuit – not stop, drive recklessly
- drive recklessly - furiously or speed/manner dangerous
- drive motor vehicle during disqualification period
- posses prohibited drug
- breach of bail
The 26-year-old man was refused bail and remains under police guard at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
