Pizza store assault, man charged - Hurlstone Park

A man has been charged over the alleged assault of two pizza store workers at Hurlstone Park this morning.

Police from Ashfield Local Area Command were called to the business on New Canterbury Road about 12.15am (Friday 24 February 2017), following reports that a man had allegedly entered the store and assaulted two employees.

Police were told the man became angry when told the store was closed and allegedly slapped and punched a 23-year-old man in the head; when his colleagues came to his aid, a 30-year-old worker was also allegedly hit.

The man then ran from the store.

Police arrived and assisted the injured men, while a second police crew patrolled the area, arresting a 26-year-old man at the corner of Canterbury Road and Crinan Street about five minutes later.

The man was taken to Campsie Police Station where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and two counts of common assault.

He was granted conditional bail to appear in Burwood Local Court on Tuesday 14 March 2017.

The 30-year-old man was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for further treatment with a suspected broken nose.
