A number of road closures, traffic diversions and clearways will be in place this week as Sydney hosts the visit of the Prime Minister of Israel, Mr Benjamin Netanyahu.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his delegation will be in Sydney from Wednesday 22 February 2017 until Sunday 26 February 2017.
Motorists are urged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time. For all up to date traffic and public transport information refer to www.LiveTraffic.com.
Operation ‘Atfield’ commander Acting Assistant Commissioner John Stapleton, Counter Terrorism & Special Tactics Command, said the NSW Police Force work closely with the Federal and State Government, as well as other key agencies and stakeholders, to manage the safety and security of the visit.
“A range of traffic changes and Special Event Clearways have been put in place to facilitate the movements of the Israeli Prime Minister, and to ensure minimum disruption to road users,” Acting Assistant Commissioner Stapleton said.
“Our aim is to strike a balance between the security needs commensurate with visits of this kind and the needs of the community. Similar traffic arrangements are in place on a weekly basis around Sydney with sporting and entertainment functions.”
Members of the public will see a range of police resources throughout the Sydney CBD and on Sydney Harbour as the leader and his delegation enjoy the hospitality which Sydney will provide.
