Woman's body found after vehicle washed off causeway - Hunter Valley

The body of a woman has been found in a car which was swept off a causeway in the Hunter Valley overnight.
Police from Hunter Valley Local Area Command have been told a couple were driving across the causeway on a property in Gungal (about 60km west of Muswellbrook) about 9pm (Thursday 30 March 2017), when it was washed into floodwaters.
A 74-year-old man escaped from the vehicle but his 64-year-old wife was trapped.
The man searched throughout the night without success and alerted police about 8.30am (Friday 31 March 2017).
Police divers searched the Worondi Riveulet and found the woman’s body in the vehicle about 5pm, submerged in 4m of water.
Inquiries are continuing.
