Man charged after war memorial vandalised - Port Macquarie

Police have charged a man over the vandalism of a World War I memorial monument on the state’s Mid North Coast.
About 1.45am today (Thursday 30 March 2017), a security guard contacted police after observing a man allegedly drawing symbols and words on the monument, located in Horton Street, Port Macquarie.
Police arrived a short time later and arrested a 47-year-old man.
He was taken to Port Macquarie Police Station where he was charged with wilfully damage/deface protected place.
The man has been granted conditional bail to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court on Wednesday 12 April 2017.
