Police officer charged - Central Metropolitan Region

A police officer attached to a Central Metropolitan Region command will appear at court in May after being issued a court attendance notice for make false accusation.

The charge relates to a witness statement the officer provided to police about an incident which occurred while he was off duty last year.

The 45-year-old sergeant has been issued a court attendance notice for the offence of make false accusation with intent to subject other to investigation.

He is expected to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 11 May 2017.

The officer is currently on leave with pay.
