Police investigate after pedestrian struck - Islington

An investigation is underway after a pedestrian was allegedly hit by a bus near Newcastle early this morning.

Police have been told a 66-year-old man was at the intersection of Maitland Road and May Street, Islington, about 2.40am (Sunday 26 March 2017) when he was run over by a bus.

He was taken to John Hunter Hospital with significant soft tissue laceration to his right arm.

Officers from Newcastle City Local Area Command have commenced investigations and are calling for witnesses to come forward.
