Taxi driver robbed - Redfern

Police are appealing for information after a taxi driver was robbed in Redfern last night.

About 11.20pm (Sunday 19 March 2017), a 58-year-old taxi driver had finished his shift and packed up his work vehicle on Young Street when he was approached by a man armed with a knife.

Police have been told the armed man demanded the driver’s possessions.

The taxi driver complied before fleeing to a nearby service station, where he alerted police.

The armed man fled the scene taking cash.

Officers attached to Redfern Local Area Command attended and commenced investigations.

As inquiries continue, police would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist them.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged between 23 and 28-years-old, of skinny build, with blond hair.

The man was seen wearing a black cap, a light-jacket and a blue shirt.
