A man has been charged with high-range PCA after he allegedly hit a parked car which had a five-year-old girl in it in Belmore last night.

About 9.15pm (Saturday 18 March 2017), a 29-year-old man was driving a Toyota Yaris with a 21-year-old female front passenger south along Kingsgrove Road, when he veered towards a kerb and hit a car parked outside a home.

At the same time, a man was in the process of securing his five-year-old daughter in the stationary vehicle.

Emergency services were called and the 21-year-old woman was assisted at the scene and taken to Canterbury Hospital; she remains there in a stable condition.

The five-year-old girl and her father were uninjured.

Officers from Campsie Local Area Command were called and the 29-year-old man underwent a roadside breath test which returned a positive result.

He was arrested and taken to Campsie Police Station, where a breath test analysis returned an alleged reading of 0.189.

The man was issued a court attendance notice for high range PCA, to appear at Burwood Local Court on Tuesday 2 May 2017. His driver’s licence was suspended.
