Bus and garbage truck crash - Wetherill Park

Several people have been taken to hospital after a crash in Sydney’s west this morning.

About 9.40am (Tuesday 14 March 2017), emergency services were called to Davis Road, Wetherill Park, following reports of a crash between a bus and a garbage truck.

Police have been told a garbage truck travelling on Davis Road and a bus travelling on the Transitway collided, causing the bus to leave the road and hit a number of parked cars in a car park.

The bus was carrying about 20 passengers at the time.

NSW Ambulance paramedics have treated 15 of the passengers at the scene for various injuries including fractures and bruising.

The male bus driver was trapped for a short time, before being released.

At this stage six injured passengers and the driver have been taken to local hospitals including Liverpool, Westmead and Fairfield.

The male driver of the garbage truck was uninjured. He was breath tested at the scene and returned a negative result.

Officers from Fairfield Local Area Command attended and a crime scene has been established.

Davis Road has been closed in both directions.
