Man charged over dangerous driving in truck - St Marys

A man will appear in court next month after being charged with several offences relating to the dangerous manner in which his truck with trailer was driven at St Marys last month.

Police from the Traffic & Highway Patrol Command commenced an investigation into the manner in which a truck was driven on the Great Western Highway on Thursday 23 February 2017 after numerous complaints from members of the public.

Investigators were contacted by several witnesses after footage of the truck allegedly being driven dangerously was uploaded to social media, allowing them to identify the truck and trailer involved.

At 10am on Thursday 9 March 2017, the owner of the truck presented to the Wetherill Park Heavy Vehicle Inspection Station as directed with another truck and trailer combination.

All vehicles were inspected with the vehicle of interest being issued a yellow defect, major defect notice.

About 11.30am on Friday 10 March 2017 investigators from the Joint Traffic Task Force spoke to the 31-year-old Victorian man who was the driver of the truck and trailer on the 23 February 2017.

The man was later issued a field court attendance notice for the offences of driving in a manner dangerous, negligent driving and not give way when moving from one marked lane to another.

He is expected to appear at Penrith Local Court on Thursday 20 April 2017.
