Man charged after allegedly dousing woman in petrol at Woy Woy

A man has been charged after allegedly throwing petrol on his partner during a domestic dispute on the Central Coast.

About 3am today (Sunday 12 March 2017), a 45-year-old man became involved in an argument with his partner, also aged 45, at a home on Watkin Avenue, Woy Woy.

During the argument, the man allegedly ripped the woman’s earrings out before leaving the premises, attending a nearby service station and purchasing a small petrol container and some petrol.

The man returned to the home, allegedly pouring petrol at the front of the home and threatening to light it.

He also allegedly threw petrol upon the 45-year-old woman, with some of the petrol landing in her eye, causing a burning sensation.

Police were contacted and attended the home, arresting the man.

Ambulance Paramedics attended and treated the woman at the scene before she was conveyed to Gosford Hospital for further treatment.

The 45-year-old man was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault, intimidation, and possess prohibited drug after being found in possession of a small amount of cannabis.

He was also charged with a further two counts of intimidation after allegedly threatening the victim’s parents, who were also in the home at the time.

The man has been granted conditional bail to appear at Gosford Local Court on Tuesday (14 March 2017).
