Cannabis plants found after Riverwood house fire

An investigation is underway after up to 300 mature cannabis plants were found in a home which caught fire at Riverwood last night.

Emergency services were called to the house on Lupin Avenue, Riverwood, about 7pm (Friday 10 March 2017), responding to reports smoke was seen coming from the roof.

Fire fighters from Fire & Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the fire, with the building’s ceiling and roof damaged.

Once extinguished, a hydroponic cannabis crop of between 150 to 300 plants was discovered.

The scene has been secured overnight and will be examined in the morning.
