Four charged over affray - Surry Hills

Four men have been charged after a brawl which took place before a soccer match in Sydney’s east.

About 6.30pm yesterday (Friday 3 March 2017), police were called to a brawl involving about 30 people in Ward Park in Surry Hills.

As police arrived the group dispersed.

Following an analysis of video footage of the brawl and further inquiries, police arrested four males during the second half of the soccer match at Allianz stadium.

They were all taken to Surry Hills Police Station where the following charges were laid:

- An 18-year-old man from Pascoe Vale South, Victoria, was charged with affray and violent disorder. He was granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on 6 April 2017.

- A 19-year-old man from Ivanhoe East, Victoria, was charged with affray and violent disorder. He was granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on 20 April 2017.

- An 18-year-old man from Epping, Victoria, was charged with affray and violent disorder. He was granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on 13 April 2017.

- An 18-year-old from Keilor Downs, Victoria, was charged with affray and violent disorder. He was granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on 28 April 2017.


In addition to these charges, a 24-year-old man from Rosebud, Victoria, who was seated with these males was searched at the stadium and found to be in possession of a small amount of the drug ecstasy.

He was given a Field Court Attendance Notice for possess prohibited drug. His court date is not known at this stage.
