A woman has now been charged with attempted murder by detectives from Deniliquin Local Area Command after being extradited from Victoria this afternoon.

About 7pm yesterday (Thursday 2 March 2017), police were called to Perricoota Road, Moama, after a nine-year-old boy was found with serious dog bite injuries. He remains in a stable condition in a Melbourne hospital after undergoing surgery.

A search was initiated after police were told a five-year-old boy was missing.

About 10pm the same night, police were advised a 27-year-old woman had been arrested after attending Echuca Police Station.

The woman was handed into the custody of detectives from NSW Police and extradited to Deniliquin Police Station where the warrant was executed and she was charged with attempted murder.

She has been refused bail to appear in Deniliquin Bail Court tomorrow (Saturday 4 March 2017).

A search was initiated last night for the five-year-old boy; it continued throughout the day and involved NSW and Victorian Police as well as volunteers.

It was suspended in fading light but will resume tomorrow.
