Reckless wounding charge - Corranbong

A man has been charged with reckless wounding after a fight in the Lake Macquarie region.
About 1.30pm yesterday (Thursday 2 March 2017), a 23-year-old man from Wyee and a 16-year-old boy from The Entrance on the Central Coast, who are known to one another, became involved in an altercation at the front of an address on Freemans Drive, Cooranbong.
During the altercation, the older man allegedly punched the boy several times to the head before holding a small knife to his throat.
It’s alleged he used the knife to inflict a wound down the left side of the 16-year-old’s face.
The 23-year-old then left the area and an ambulance was called.
The injured boy was conveyed to Gosford Hospital where he required treatment to a significant wound.
Detectives from Lake Macquarie Local Area Command commenced inquiries.
Later that afternoon, the 23-year-old was arrested at Belmont Police Station.
He was charged with reckless wounding and refused bail to appear at Toronto Local Court today (Friday 3 March 2017).
