Escapee sought - Wollongong

Police are seeking public assistance to help locate a man who escaped from police custody in Wollongong today.
Jason Rees, aged 43, was arrested earlier today (Thursday 2 March 2017) in relation to firearm and assault offences.
While in police custody the man was taken to Wollongong Hospital for assessment.
About 6pm he escaped from police custody at the hospital. At the time of his escape he was handcuffed.
Police from Wollongong Local Area Command and the Dog Squad established a perimeter and conducted an extensive search of the surrounding area however at this time he has not been located.
At the time of his escape he was wearing a Sydney Roosters football jersey and black shorts.
He is described as Caucasian appearance, 175 to 180cm tall, 70 to 80kg, with short light brown hair and blue eyes.
He has a number of tattoos including a southern cross tattoo on his neck, a scorpion on his left leg and a skull on his right upper arm.
Jason Rees is considered dangerous. Anyone who sights him should not approach him but contact Triple Zero immediately.
