Man faces court after alleged stabbing - Berala

A man will face court today after allegedly stabbing another man in Sydney’s west last night.

Emergency services were called to Berala Railway Station on Woodburn Road, Berala, following reports that a man had been stabbed around 9.30pm (Tuesday 28 February 2017).

Officers from Flemington Local Area Command attended and located a 35-year-old man with stab wounds to his body.

Initial inquiries suggest the man was injured following an altercation with another male known to him.

The injured man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital, where he has undergone surgery.

A crime scene has been established and it will be examined by forensic officers.

About 10pm (Tuesday 28 February 2017) police arrested a 38-year-old man nearby.

He was taken to Auburn Police Station where he was charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The man was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today, (Wednesday 1 March 2017).
