Man charged over alleged child procurement and indecent assault - SCC Child Abuse Squad

A man will face court today charged over the alleged procurement and indecent assault of his young neighbour in Sydney’s west.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse Squad commenced an investigation following reports a young boy had been indecently assaulted by a neighbourhood friend of the family.

Following extensive investigations, a 68-year-old man was arrested at a home in Hebersham, about 10.45am yesterday (Monday 27 February 2017).

He was charged with indecent assault person under 16 years, and procure child under 14 years for unlawful sexual activity.

Police will allege the man had been procuring the child for a number of years, and recently indecently assaulted him during a visit to the family’s home.

He was refused bail and to appear at Mt Druitt Local Court today (Tuesday 28 February 2017).

The Child Abuse Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate crimes against children, including sexual assault, physical abuse and serious cases of neglect.
